There are so many moments in a woman’s life where she learns to leave herself behind in order to please others.
I had quite a few moments like that growing up, leaving myself behind in order to please others, and I want to share one such moment with you.
I was about 13 or 14, and I was getting ready to go to a concert with my best friend. It was a big deal. At that time, women’s shorts came into fashion.
So I got into dressing and I put on a very bright pair of purple leggings (or tights) a pair of bright green shorts, and a fitted t-shirt top.
I looked in the mirror and I felt so good about myself!
I looked hot!
And I loved how I looked.
When I came out of my room to go out, both of my parents were scandalized, especially my father.
He said: “No way you’re going out like this. This is too sexy.
You’re going to attract too much attention. Men might get the wrong idea.
You have to change or you’re not going out.”
My heart sank.
I went into my room and at that moment I realized that how I felt about myself didn’t matter as much as pleasing my parents…
